New Brief: Social Cohesion Indicators for Peaceful, Inclusive Communities

Research · 6 May 2026

The PACS Institute research team has published a new methodological brief on social cohesion indicators, translating abstract goals such as trust, inclusion and belonging into measures that municipalities and community organisations can actually collect and compare over time.

The brief emphasises responsible use: indicators exist to support dialogue, not to rank communities against one another. Every suggested measure is paired with guidance on how results should be discussed with the residents concerned.

The brief is part of our Social Statistics & Monitoring programme and complements the community scorecard work piloted with partner organisations. A Swedish-language version will follow during the autumn.
