Innovation

The Innovation Lab is PACS’s incubator for bold ideas.

Within the Innovation Lab, we experiment with new models of governance, technology, and philosophy to reimagine peace and human rights for the future. Interdisciplinary teams experiment with novel ideas, challenge current assumptions, and prototype forward-thinking strategies that spark critical dialogue and inspire transformative change.

Active Projects

  • Future Treaties Initiative

PACS is exploring a creative vision for the future of human rights documents and peace treaties, reimagining the language and format to resonate deeply with contemporary values and challenges. This initiative aims to produce forward-looking prototypes and experimental texts that illustrate how future agreements might be articulated clearly, inclusively, and compellingly, ultimately enhancing their effectiveness and global acceptance.

  • Human Rights Mapping Portal

The PACS Institute is developing a digital platform designed to make human rights accessible and actionable for organizations. By analyzing textual content and uploaded documents, this tool will identify specific human rights issues involved, mapping potential risks and opportunities. Upon deployment, the portal will support advocates, NGOs, and researchers to engage more effectively with human rights standards, facilitating informed decision-making, advocacy, and accountability.

  • UN Engagement Navigator

Recognizing the complexity NGOs often face when engaging with the United Nations, PACS is creating the "UN Engagement Navigator," a clear and practical portal designed to simplify participation in UN processes. The navigator will provide step-by-step instructions, practical advice, and tailored action plans to enable NGOs to effectively present their perspectives internationally. This resource aims to simplify engagement and strengthen the ability of civil society organizations to influence global policies.

  • SDG Impact Tracker

PACS is developing the "SDG Impact Tracker," an analytical and educational tool to help organizations align their activities with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. This portal will analyze documents and textual information to identify relevant SDGs, highlight key performance metrics, and offer clear guidance on data collection and reporting. The Impact Tracker will assist organizations in accurately measuring and improving their contributions towards sustainable development.

Past Explorations

  • Xpress Democracy (Currently on hold pending further development)

Xpress Democracy is a gamified, web-based platform that empowers citizens to submit, discuss, and vote on political ideas. Popular proposals are automatically transformed into petitions and sent to government, while our innovative Responsiveness Rating system transparently ranks representatives based on how actively they engage with these initiatives. The prototype demonstrated interest in civic engagement, but has been paused as we explore partnerships for implementation.

  • AI-UN (Currently on hold pending further development)

AI-UN envisions a digital United Nations where national interests are represented by AI agents programmed to prioritize global peace. These agents interact in a virtual arena to negotiate resolutions and develop creative solutions to international crises, offering a transparent model of peace-centric diplomacy that serves as a guide for real-world governance.

We continuously seek new ideas to incubate – if you have a visionary project that aligns with our mission, let’s discuss it.
