Innovation
The Innovation Lab is PACS’s incubator for bold ideas. Within the Innovation Lab, we experiment with new models of governance, technology, and philosophy to reimagine peace and human rights for the future. Interdisciplinary teams experiment with novel ideas, challenge current assumptions, and prototype forward-thinking strategies that spark critical dialogue and inspire transformative change.
Active Projects
-
Future Treaties Initiative
PACS is exploring how future human rights documents and peace treaties could be crafted to better reflect contemporary values and challenges. The initiative will develop forward-looking prototype texts showing how tomorrow’s agreements might be articulated in clearer, more inclusive, and compelling ways – ultimately to improve their effectiveness and global acceptance.
-
Human Rights Mapping Portal
PACS is developing a digital platform to make human rights information more accessible and actionable for organizations. By analysing textual content (such as reports or policies), this tool will identify the specific human rights issues at stake and map out potential risks and opportunities. Once launched, the portal will help advocates, NGOs, and researchers engage more effectively with human rights standards, facilitating informed decision-making, advocacy, and accountability.
-
UN Engagement Navigator
Recognizing the challenges that NGOs face in engaging with the United Nations, PACS is developing the UN Engagement Navigator – a clear, hands-on portal to guide organizations through UN processes. The Navigator will offer step-by-step guidance, practical advice, and tailored action plans to help NGOs present their perspectives effectively on the international stage. This resource aims to streamline NGO engagement and strengthen civil society’s ability to influence global policy.
-
SDG Impact Tracker
PACS is also creating the SDG Impact Tracker, an analytical tool to help organizations align their activities with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. This portal will analyse documents and other texts to identify relevant SDGs, highlight key performance indicators, and provide guidance on data collection and reporting. The Impact Tracker will help organizations measure and improve their contributions to sustainable development.
Past Explorations
-
Xpress Democracy (prototype on hold)
Xpress Democracy is a gamified web platform designed to enable citizens to submit, discuss, and vote on policy ideas. Popular proposals would automatically turn into petitions to the government, and a “Responsiveness Rating” system would rank public officials based on their engagement with these citizen initiatives. The prototype generated significant public interest in civic engagement but has been put on hold as we seek partners for further development.
-
AI-UN (concept on hold)
AI-UN envisions a digital simulation of the United Nations where each country is represented by an AI agent programmed to prioritize global peace. These AI delegates interact in a virtual arena to negotiate resolutions and propose innovative solutions to international crises – providing a transparent, peace-centric model of diplomacy that could inform real-world governance.
We are always looking for new ideas to incubate – if you have a project that aligns with our mission, we invite you to discuss it with us.
